Bravely waiting will help with anything from emergency food and gas, to car repairs, furniture, computers, or anything else a family might need. We do not limit our aid to a set list of services. If a family has a need, we will utilize all our resources to do all we can to help. All of these services are available to all military families, regardless of rank. Everything is grant based and will never have to be repaid. Some of our services include:
Bravely Waiting provides Commissary or grocery store gift cards to meet the emergency food needs a family might have. There is no rank cut-off to receive food help.
Bravely Waiting will financially help a family in need whenever possible. We will aid the family with immediate help with necessities (keeping a reasonable priced car out of repossesion, paying the power bill to keep electricity on when a family resides outside of base housing, keeping a vehicle insured so that it is legal, etc.). We will follow up this bill help with advice from our debt counselor who offers his time to families we refer at no cost to the family or to Bravely Waiting.
Bravely Waiting will provide a family with needed furniture through the generous donations offered by the Tucson community. We ask that all donated furniture be "fit for a hero". Furniture available through this program includes but is not limited to: dining room sets, living room furniture, bedroom sets, etc. Mattress sets are provided once per family, but only to families who do not already have one (adults/parents receive a queen and children receive a twin). We cannot upgrade your current mattress. All furniture will be delivered to you by one of our transport volunteers. Delivery times will vary based on our drivers schedules and donor availability. Occasionally our furniture volunteers can arrange for a furniture transfer to take place directly between a family and a donor if both parties are agreeable. Wait times to receive a mattress set will vary based on current demand as these are ordered in bulk.
Bravely Waiting will provide a family with needed baby furniture through the generous donations offered by the Tucson community. We only accept items that are current with safety standards so you can be assured that you will receive items that comply with these standards. Furniture available through this program includes but is not limited to: cribs, changing tables, dressers, swings, highchairs, strollers, car seats, etc. Because of the safety issue, car seats are an item that we can only accept if new, so their availability will vary.
Bravely Waiting's goal is to be able to provide a computer to any military family requesting one. At this time we can only provide PC's and you will also receive the Operating System License. The working systems (tower, monitor, mouse, and keyboard) are all donated by the Tucson community. All of the computers have had their hard drives wiped clean and are inspected to ensure they have all necessary components.
Bravely Waiting will either directly provide Holiday Help during the holiday season or we will refer a family to a partner resource when needed. These holidays include: Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Bravely Waiting is able to do all that we do because of the generous support and donations from wonderful people right here in Tucson, AZ and beyond.
Any spouse who has a loved one deployed. We support any branch of service, any rank, any length of deployment or TDY.
Bravely Waiting is run by a wonderful group of local volunteers. Many have full-time jobs. Many have prior military service themselves. Some even make it a family effort. Because we are a volunteer organization, we have no payroll. Every penny of every dollar we receive goes directly towards helping a military family right here in Tucson, AZ. Our volunteers eagerly give of their time to make smiles happen. We are able to use 100% of all donations for our families because our volunteers make use of their own computers, Internet access, and phone lines.
